Milton J. Bennet
Dr. Milton J. Bennett directs the Intercultural Development Research Institute located in Washington State, USA and Milano, Italy (http://www.idrinstitute.org) and holds an adjunct faculty appointment in sociology at the University of Milano Bicocca. Previously he was professor of intercultural communication at Portland State University (Oregon, USA) and a faculty member of several corporate universities and executive training programs.
He studied physics and cognitive psychology as part of his BA degree from Stanford University, has an MA in psycholinguistics from San Francisco State University and completed one of the first Ph.D.’s in intercultural communication (University of Minnesota). He is known for originating the Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity and for his text, Basic Concepts of Intercultural Communication: Paradigms, Principles, and Practices (Intercultural Press, 2013) – also published in Chinese (Peking University Press, 2012) and Italian (Franco Angeli Press, 2015). A former US Peace Corps Volunteer, he consults on topics of sustainable intercultural development and global leadership to corporations, universities, and exchange organizations in Europe, Asia, and the US.
Of particular interest to this event, Dr. Bennett has consulted extensively with the medical faculty of the University of Colorado School of Medicine on creating a climate of respect for cultural diversity, and he is leading the IDRInstitute’s contribution to the Erasmus+ EU project on Training Intercultural Nursing Educators and Students.
Dr Almudena NEVADO
Dr Almudena NEVADO holds a PhD in Translation, Society and Communication from Jaume I University (Castellón, Spain). She is a lecturer in the degree programs in Translation and Nursing, and the master’s degree in Research for Health Sciences at San Jorge University (Zaragoza, Spain). She is also an associate lecturer for the master’s degree in Specialised Translation at the University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia (Vic, Spain). She belongs to the research group Migrations, Interculturality and Human Development (MIDH). Her research interests are focused on public service interpreting, medical interpreting and intercultural mediation and she has published several papers and book chapters with regard to those fields.
Prof. DR. Gulbu Tanriverdi
Tanrıverdi graduated from Atatürk University with a Bachelors in Nursing in 1992. She completed her master's degree in 1999 and her doctorate in 2003 in the Department of Public Health Nursing at the same university. She has been working at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Faculty of Health Sciences since 2005. She became a professor in the department of public health nursing in 2017. She served in many managerial and chairman positions at the university and took part in commissions.

Tanriverdi, whose first research was published in 1999, has 75 articles and nearly 100 papers presented in national and international congresses. She has been working on the importance of culture on health and nursing since 2000. Tanriverdi has made a presentation as a speaker at nearly 100 scientific and social events on the cultural approach to health. She, who organized many congresses, symposiums, workshops, panels and courses on the subject, gave speeches on health and culture in many radio, television and online programs. In addition to being the researcher who developed the first Model in this field in Turkey, she is the founding member and president of the Transcultural Nursing Association. In addition to Tanriverdi's books "Transcultural Nursing" "Approaches and suggestions to develop cultural competence in nurses", "Nursing approaches in different religions", "Cultural diversity and traditional health practices in Turkey", "Cultural differences and nursing approaches in Turkey" There are 25 book chapters on cultural approach in different books. The writing process of Tanriverdi's editorial book on health approaches for Europeans living in Turkey continues. She advised eight theses on the subject and contributed to many theses. Tanriverdi has recently proposed a new field of specialization for nursing in Turkey with her article "Interreligious Nursing".

In addition to all these, Tanrıverdi, who is actively involved in community-based studies, worked at the University's Women's Studies Application and Research Center for about 12 years and was its director for a while. Tanriverdi currently give lessons such as "Transcultural Nursing", "Religion in Nursing Practices (the first in Turkey)" as elective courses in her institution, gives courses to develop cultural competence in healthcare professionals, and continues thesis and studies on the subject.
